Conversion ADU Construction

Hello! I’m Nick Buck, a second-generation licensed contractor and the owner of Buck Built.

I specialize in Conversion ADUs - creating beautiful homes out of existing spaces like garages, outbuildings, and more.

I focus on these because they’re such a win-win-win - huge value for the client (both equity and rental income), new attainable housing for local residents, and dynamic and interesting for me as the builder and designer.

Considering a Conversion ADU? Let’s see what’s possible.

Why Buck Built?

Have a space that could become an ADU?

A lot of homeowners assume creating an ADU means spending $150,000, $200,000, or more. It doesn't have to.

Our recent ADU conversions have landed around $50,000, or roughly $150 per square foot — well below Nevada County's estimated $250–$400 per square foot for typical ADU construction.

One recent ~$40,000 conversion rented for $1,500/month almost immediately — roughly $18,000 in first-year rent.

That's the opportunity: take space you already have, turn it into a comfortable home, create a meaningful source of rental income, and add housing for local residents — without building an entirely new structure.
