Redwood Cottage, 2025

1950s garage converted to permitted 200sqft studio ADU with full bath and kitchen in Fairfax, CA.

Stripped down to studs with full mold & carpenter ant remediation. Garage door replaced by wall in cover photo. New framing, electrical, plumbing, flooring, windows, siding, drywall & finishing, paint, bathroom, kitchen, and pocket door.

All work done in-house by Buck Built.

Finnish Sauna, 2025

Brand new Finnish Sauna & Cold Plunge build in Grass Valley, CA.

Included trenching for electric, grading & prep for slab, concrete slab pour & finishing, Sauna framing, roofing, siding, trim, staining & finishing.

95% of work done in-house by Buck Built; electric subcontracted to Empowered Electric.

Adobe Casita, 2016

Off-grid Southwest-style Adobe home in Taos, NM.

All traditional elements including adobe mud harvested on-site, local rough-sawn roof framing (lintels, vigas & latillas), flat roof with parapet walls and natural pumice insulation, local-harvested natural clay plaster, adobe & brick floor, woodstove, off-grid solar and well water.

Workshop-style build led by Buck Built and incorporating the owners as well as ~20 volunteers.

Natural Apartment, 2023

Unfinished over-garage space converted to permitted 480sqft studio apartment with full bath and kitchen in Grass Valley, CA.

All new plumbing, electric, windows, mini-split heat/AC, interior walls, natural clay plaster (locally sourced), solid hardwood floors (locally sourced), tile bathroom with oversized bath/shower and natural Lime plaster, oak cabinets, granite counters, custom redwood/birch/oak built-ins throughout.

Weaving Studio, 2022

Adobe studio with sleeping loft built in Taos, NM.

Traditional adobe brick construction with mud mortar harvested on-site, stone foundation harvested on-site, pitched roof built with locally-sawn lumber, sleeping loft, extensive windows, natural clay/lime exterior plaster, local clay interior plaster, earthen adobe floor, wood stove.

Workshop-style build led by Buck Built and incorporating the owners as well as ~10 volunteers.

Outdoor Kitchen, 2024

Natural post-and-beam pavilion kitchen in Taos, NM.

All locally milled rough-sawn lumber, posts set in adobe & rock footings (harvested on-site), open layout with 2 full walls and 2 half walls open to the South and West, locally-made metal roof, off-grid solar and well water, gravel floor.

All work done in-house by Buck Built.

Custom Van Build, 2025

Full camper-van conversion in Grass Valley, CA.

Including solar power, weatherproofing, insulation, all Birch interior walls, ceiling, bed and cabinetry, solar power, battery system, lighting, plumbing, RV fridge, composting toilet and twin custom slide-outs to store 4 mountain bikes upright.

Countless flooring projects, from new floors to remodels, including tile, hardwood, engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank (LVP), luxury vinyl tile (LVT), earthen / adobe, and red brick.
